Safety Honors

The following Ohio Edison/Penn Power employees were recognized for their safety achievements.

Receiving the President’s Safety Excellence Award:

  • New Castle – Seventy-six employees achieved one year of OSHA-free work on April 8. The group also has driven three years without a controllable motor vehicle accident (CMVA). Bargaining-unit members are represented by Utility Workers Union of America (UWUA) Local 140.
  • Warren – Fifty-eight employees celebrated one year without an OSHA recordable on April 11. The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 1194 represents bargaining-unit members at the site.
  • Fairlawn – The center’s 193 employees achieved one year without an OSHA recordable on April 29. Bargaining-unit members are represented by UWUA Local 126.

Work groups recognized for safety marks:

  • Fairlawn – Facilities has worked OSHA free for one year and driven 41 years without a CMVA. The Lines group achieved one year without an OSHA recordable. There are 54 employees in Lines and four in Facilities.
  • Boardman – Seven employees in the Transmission group celebrated 14 years without an OSHA-recordable incident. UWUA 118 represents bargaining-unit members.
  • Customer Support – The group’s 17 employees have worked OSHA free for 14 years.
  • Forestry – Sixteen employees in the group achieved 12 years without an OSHA recordable.
  • Mansfield – Transmission has worked six years without an OSHA recordable and five years without a CMVA. There are six employees in the group. Bargaining-unit members are represented by IBEW Local 1194.
  • Marion – Twenty-one employees in the Lines group marked two years without an OSHA recordable and a CMVA. IBEW Local 1194 represents union members.
  • New Castle – Substations achieved one year without an OSHA recordable and four years without a CMVA. Twenty-nine employees work in the group.
  • Warren – Meter Reading celebrated 19 years without an OSHA recordable. There are six employees in the group.
  • Youngstown – Thirty-nine employees in the Lines group marked three years without an OSHA recordable and a CMVA. Bargaining-unit members are represented by UWUA Local 118.
