Safety Honors in PA

​Employees in the following Pennsylvania-based work groups were recognized for their safety focus in the field and on the road.

Penelec

  • Clearfield – The project crew – which focuses on transmission line maintenance and improvements – reached one year without an OSHA-recordable incident. There are nine employees in the group. Bargaining-unit employees at Clearfield are represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 459.

West Penn Power

  • Pleasant Valley – The service center was recognized for working three years without an OSHA recordable and more than one year without a controllable motor vehicle accident (CMVA). Sixty-two employees are based at the facility.
  • Greensburg – Employees at the corporate center – including those in the distribution control center – achieved seven years of OSHA-free work and more than one year without a CMVA on March 5.

Bargaining-unit employees at West Penn Power belong to Utility Workers Union of America (UWUA) Local 102.

FirstEnergy

  • Connellsville West Side – Work groups at the site achieved two years without an OSHA recordable and a CMVA in November. The facility – located in West Penn Power’s territory – is home to nearly 70 employees working in the Southern Distribution Center, Material Management, General/Transformer Repair and Rubber Goods/Meter shops, Environmental, Transportation, Technical (Meter) Support, Fire & Safety and Compliance and Project Controls Support. Union members are represented by UWUA Local 102.
