Safety Focus at West Penn Power

December 4, 2019

West Penn Power recently held safety celebrations for employees in two work groups:

  • Meter Reading – in recognition of two years without an OSHA-recordable incident and two years without a chargeable motor vehicle accident. At the time of the celebration, the Meter Reading group was comprised of 17 employees. Also contributing to the safety milestones were a number of other employees – who have moved to different company positions due to the Pennsylvania smart meter implementation.
  • Jefferson – for working one year without an OSHA recordable. Forty-three employees are based at the service center.

“Members of these work groups earned this recognition with their dedication to watching out for each other,” said John Rea, regional president, West Penn Power. “A prime example of that commitment were Meter Reading employees – past and present – who remained safety focused during the smart meter transition.”

Bargaining-unit employees at West Penn Power are represented by Utility Workers Union of America (UWUA) Local 102.
