Doug Brown, supervisor, Nuclear Core Design, has been promoted to manager, Nuclear Fuel & Analysis, replacing Robb Borland, director, Nuclear Fuel & Analysis, who has elected to retire on March 1 following more than 33 years of service with  the company.

“Under Robb’s leadership, FENOC’s fuel performance has shown considerable improvement across the fleet. We thank him for his significant contributions and wish him well in retirement,” said Ray Lieb, senior vice president, Fleet Engineering.

In his new role, Doug will report to Allan Wise, director, Fleet Engineering, effective Feb. 4. The Nuclear Fuel position is changing from director to manager – aligning with other fleet positions as well as the original organizational structure.

“As we move forward, our focus will be on continued improvement in fuel performance, as well as achieving cost efficiencies. Doug’s industry background will help us achieve that goal,” said Ray.

Robb began his FENOC career in 1985 in Reactor Engineering at Davis-Besse and worked in several nuclear fuel-related jobs until he was promoted to supervisor, FENOC Core Design & Physics Support in 2000. He became manager, Nuclear Fuel & Analysis in 2004 and was promoted to his current position in 2013. Robb holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in nuclear engineering from the Iowa State University of Science and Technology.

Doug joined Perry’s Outage Management group in 2012 before being promoted to his current role in 2015. Before joining FENOC, Doug worked in the nuclear industry for 15 years. He holds a Bachelor of Science in nuclear engineering from the University of Cincinnati.
