A brave group of employee volunteers is planning to safely rappel down the side of our Akron General Office to raise funds for the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) Great Trail Council. The Over the Edge event is scheduled for Saturday, May 21, and we need your help to reach our $100,000 fundraising goal.
“The BSA Great Trail Council is focused on building a brighter future for young people in our communities, and FirstEnergy is proud to serve as one of the sponsors of this event,” said Sam Belcher, senior vice president, Operations. “As someone who has rappelled down our 20-story office building before, I can say with great certainty that first-time participants are in for an exhilarating experience.”
Always Prepared
The BSA Great Trail Council fosters creativity, promotes family unity, and inspires and motivates scouts to develop skills that will provide the foundation needed to become productive citizens. For more information, visit the organization’s website. |
This year’s donation to the BSA Great Trail Council will be made in honor of the FirstEnergy employees we lost to COVID-19. “We feel their loss every day and offer our continued support to their families,” Sam added. “Please consider sponsoring one of the 25 employees who are participating in this year’s event.”
One of these first-time employee participants is John Meehan, manager, Safety Operations, JCP&L. “I’m looking forward to the challenge,” he said. “The BSA Great Trail Council has done so much for so many young people in our communities over the years – this is an opportunity to help give something back to the organization.”
