Across FirstEnergy’s service territory, special funds have been established to help needy families pay their winter heating bills. Without the support of these organizations, such as Dollar Energy Fund and the Salvation Army’s Project Reach, some families might have to choose between heating their homes and other vital necessities.

In November, FirstEnergy customers will receive inserts in their bills, featuring information about their local assistance fund and how they can contribute to help those in need. Monthly contributions can be included in bill payments, or a one-time donation can be made online or by mail to the fund highlighted in the insert. In most cases, the contribution is tax-deductible.
