A local child and family have reason to celebrate after experiencing a rare guardian angel sighting on earth – in the form of Ohio Edison’s very own Mike Daniels.

Mike was on assignment at an apartment complex in Richwood, Ohio, when he spotted a potentially dangerous situation in his midst – unfolding right before his eyes. The Meter Technician was sitting inside his vehicle when he noticed a small, two-year-old child, playing outside unsupervised. No accompanying adults could be seen nearby, raising his concern.

The situation quickly escalated as Mike witnessed the toddler starting to walk toward the main road. He immediately exited his vehicle and prevented the vulnerable tot from entering the roadway. He also called the authorities and waited for the police to arrive, ensuring the toddler was out of harm’s way.

“Mike’s caring attitude, keen observation and quick thinking saved this kid from imminent danger and avoided what could have been a life-threatening situation,” said Richard Gow, Ohio Edison Regional Operations Supervisor.

Law enforcement officers conducted a search of the surrounding area upon arrival. They discovered the lost child had wandered off undetected from an apartment located four buildings away from the scene.
