Our Focus on Education

August 8, 2019

There are many ways FirstEnergy supports academics in our service area – from contributions and sponsorships of educational events and programs, to our employees sharing the FirstEnergy story with local students.

Sarah Mansheim, High Rocks Academy, proudly displays the $10,000 FirstEnergy Foundation check she just received from John Norman, consultant, Regional External Affairs. The funds will support High Rocks Academy’s programming in Pocahontas and Nicholas counties in West Virginia.

Maria Sessa, special assignment, JCP&L (c.), presents a $3,000 FirstEnergy Foundation check to Ocean County College Foundation staff for the 2019 Ocean County Foundation Gala. In the photo with Maria are (l.-r.) Nancy Heroy, Sherri Bray, Kenneth Malagiere and Kimberly Malony.

Henry Posy, engineer IV, made a presentation to National Society of Black Engineers Jr. students at Morristown High School. Henry’s presentation – What is a Reliability Engineer? – explained his job position at JCP&L and what it takes to become an engineer. He engaged the 35 students with question-and-answer segments and quizzes where they could win science books donated by the company.
