FirstEnergy once again will participate in National Night Out on Aug. 6 by supporting local events with sponsorships, information booths and, in some cases, line trucks and equipment demonstrations.

National Night Out is a community-building campaign held the first Tuesday in August each year. It began in 1984 with neighbors simply turning on their porch lights and gathering in front of their homes. Today, block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and various other community events feature safety demonstrations, exhibits, seminars, youth events, visits from police and emergency personnel and more.

National Night Out is celebrated by millions of neighbors in thousands of communities across the U.S. and Canada. If there’s an event near you, check it out!
