Nearly 1,000 local youth had the opportunity to enjoy all the fun of baseball at Cleveland Baseball Day on Monday, July 8. Presented by our FirstEnergy Foundation and hosted by the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission, this unique experience was part of Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game festivities taking place in Cleveland, Ohio.

“It was an honor for the FirstEnergy Foundation to kick-off this communitywide initiative,” said Lorna Wisham, vice president, Corporate Affairs & Community Involvement and president of the FirstEnergy Foundation. “With our sponsorship, the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission was able to secure 1,000 tickets for underserved youth in northeast Ohio to attend. The FirstEnergy Foundation requested that at least 200 youth be from the Akron area, so we worked with Akron City Hall and a handful of other Akron-based community organizations to invite them to participate.”

CEI employees Matt Kasinecz, construction site coordinator, and Todd Leslie, claim representative, along with Torey Tolson, analyst, Corporate Affairs & Community Involvement volunteered their time during the event distributing t-shirts, providing directions and more.

Lorna added, “Watching the excitement on the children’s faces was priceless. It truly was a great day!”
