At the last United Way of Jefferson County board meeting that Generation Human Resources Manager Ryan Vitek attended, he heard the board was in need of a few computers to help streamline work for its interns and volunteers. As a current board member of the organization, which helps serve Steubenville, Ohio, communities surrounding the W. H. Sammis plant, Ryan sprang into action and passed the request on to Delores Jones, manager, Community Involvement.

Delores was able to arrange five laptops for donation from FirstEnergy, and Ryan presented the much-appreciated gift to Kate Sedgmer, executive director, United Way of Jefferson County, on March 2.

“Two of our United Way volunteers were so excited, they actually cried when Kate told them about the gift,” said Ryan. “They were very appreciative of FirstEnergy’s generosity.”
