Keeping Vital Services Alive

May 5, 2022
The FirstEnergy Foundation recently made several contributions in support of needed services in our communities.
The Foundation provided a $10,000 contribution to Lasting Change in Hagerstown, Md. (Potomac Edison service area). The organization offers addiction recovery services for women. The grant will support a career development program that provides job readiness skills in preparation for independent living.

The Foundation delivered a $2,000 grant to For the Love Of A Veteran, Inc. in Hanover, Pa. (Met-Ed service area). Our contribution will help provide access to a much-needed medical procedure known as Stellate Ganglion Block (SGB). SGB is a breakthrough treatment with more than an 83% success rate in reducing post-traumatic stress disorder. The procedure will be provided free of charge, with transportation and lodging included if needed.

El Primer Paso (JCP&L service area) received a $10,000 FirstEnergy Foundation grant to support technology upgrades – which are greatly needed due to the pandemic. The Dover-based organization provides high-quality preschool programs for dual-language learners, adult English-language education and support for affordable, culturally responsive childcare.
