John Hawkins Featured in EEI Podcast
October 22, 2025
Pennsylvania President John Hawkins was recently featured on the Edison Electric Institute’s (EEI) podcast, Electric Perspectives, where he discussed how FE Pennsylvania is investing in workforce development to power the future.
The episode explores the electric power industry’s priorities around workforce development, including our Apprenticeship Program, training initiatives and partnerships aimed at building a strong pipeline of skilled energy workers.
John highlights FE Pennsylvania’s significant investments to strengthen both the grid and the people behind it:
“Our communities rely on a resilient and reliable grid, so we have to have a workforce that has advanced skills and expertise to deliver on those expectations,” he said. “We’re investing $28 billion across our footprint through 2029 – $15 billion in Pennsylvania alone in infrastructure enhancements, people, processes and facilities – and the key word there is people.”
He also emphasized the importance of collaboration:
“One of the keys to making this possible is the partnerships, and one of the most important partnerships – and one of our most important stakeholders – is our union partners,” John said. “These aren’t just jobs, these are careers, and we felt [success] wouldn’t have been possible without our union partners.”
