In Memoriam: Justin T. Rogers

Justin T. Rogers, former Ohio Edison executive, passed away on April 10 at the age of 89. Justin had a distinguished 35-year career with Ohio Edison – ultimately serving as president and then chairman and CEO from 1980 through 1993.

 Justin’s dedication to community involvement helped cultivate a tradition of giving that continues today at FirstEnergy. In 2017, he was honored by the Association of Fundraising Professionals of Northeast Ohio with its Lifetime Achievement Award. He was recognized for his decades-long commitment to community service, including his leadership role in fundraising for the Hospice Care Center in Northeast Ohio, which was named in his honor. In 2004, Justin was recognized as the 37th recipient of the Bert A. Polsky Humanitarian Award.

Justin also served in leadership roles with organizations such as the United Way, American Red Cross, Akron Tomorrow, Leadership Akron, Boy Scouts of America, The Medical Education Foundation of Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine, Health Network of Ohio, Bluecoats and Akron General Medical Center.

 Justin was a graduate of Princeton University and the University of Michigan Law School, and was a U.S. Army veteran.
