In Memoriam

January 13, 2022
FirstEnergy family is saddened by the loss of David Porter, supervisor, Network Support IT, at Met-Ed. Dave passed away on Jan. 3 due to complications from COVID-19. He was employed by the company for nearly 40 years.
Dave leaves behind his wife, Kathie, three sons, and six grandchildren.
Outside of work, Dave was active in his church, participated in Boy Scouts with his sons, and enjoyed bowling and vacationing with his family. To raise money and awareness for the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society, he rode in MS-sponsored bike events for 15 years, cycling 150 miles each time for the cause. In his memory, the FirstEnergy Foundation is making a $2,500 donation to MS 150, the organization chosen by his family.
“Throughout Dave’s career, he met a lot of people and, more importantly, made a lot of friends, said Brandon Bolon, manager, SCADA Engineering & Field Support. “He was always willing to help and share his knowledge and expertise with those around him. He loved sharing his memories and enjoyment of spending time with his wife and family. Dave will be greatly missed by his friends here at FirstEnergy,” Brandon said.
His obituary stated that “Family was everything to Dave. He was the catalyst of family projects and he had a fun, inclusive way about him that made everyone want to join in. He was generous, always willing to help, loved his family with his whole heart, and cherished his grandchildren.”
During this difficult time, our thoughts are with Dave’s family and his Met-Ed coworkers.
