Military veterans have given so much to our country for the freedom we enjoy today. Here are a few examples of how the FirstEnergy Foundation helps to support these brave men and women.

Joe Malda, consultant, Regional External Affairs (l.), presents a $5,000 FirstEnergy Foundation check to Terry Gendron, County of York Veterans Affairs. The funds will be used to help support The Higher Standard Project, a privately funded recovery home for veterans undergoing treatment for substance abuse or trauma.
The FirstEnergy Foundation donated $500 to Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 3 in Altoona, Pa., for a project that Penelec employee Rick Fink is helping to lead. Registered as the oldest VFW post in the U.S., the Altoona group is working with the Catholic War Vets (CWV) and the American Legion to form the Blair County Veterans Home Association. The three organizations were struggling individually and decided to combine efforts and programs to support local veterans. The project includes expanding the current CWV building to better serve members. (photo above)
