Giving to Our Communities

Recently, John Hawkins, President, Pennsylvania, toured the IM ABLE Foundation* in Reading, Pa., and presented them a check from the FirstEnergy Foundation – demonstrating our core value of Stewardship.

IM ABLE is dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with all abilities every day through physical activity. They help people with challenges reconnect with their confidence, independence and sense of possibility.

“I was honored to present IM Able with a $25,000 grant from the FirstEnergy Foundation to aid in the expansion of their vital services, including providing grants for adaptive equipment, training and therapy to amputees and neurodiverse adults and children,” said John. “I am grateful to have been a small part of supporting this mission in investing in people and empowering inclusion!”

The IM ABLE Foundation provides adaptive equipment, training and therapies to 2500 amputees, autistic adults and kids, and other disabled individuals every year, including adaptive trail bikes that cost up to $20k each. These bikes are a lifeline for connecting these folks with outdoor recreation and healthier lifestyles.
