From Beaches to Bunnies

FirstEnergy employees love the “fun” of fundraising! Here are a few examples of our employees out and about in the communities we serve.

Thousands of volunteers participated in New Jersey shoreline cleanup activities during the recent Clean Ocean Action’s first spring-time Beach Sweep event. JCP&L employees John Anderson, vice president, External Affairs; Maria Sessa, special assignment; and Kathy Moyer, Customer Account specialist, helped scour the sand at Point Pleasant Beach, Belmar and Asbury Park, respectively.

Several FirstEnergy and Mon Power employees recently held a Craft/Vendor Show to benefit their Relay for Life team. The show raised more than $600 – enabling the team to already meet its $10,000 goal for this year’s Relay for Life event. The relay benefits the American Cancer Society.

Joining a special visitor – Easter Bunny Jeremy Smallwood – are team members (l. to r.): front row, Alecia Lee, Jenny Smallwood and Carrie Moore; back row, Susie Kniceley and Tracy Dolechek.

Our employees heard the alarm and answered! During the American Red Cross Sound the Alarm event, FirstEnergy volunteers canvassed local neighborhoods educating residents on the importance of creating and practicing a fire escape plan. They also installed new 10-year smoke alarms.
