Feeding Our Neighbors in Need

March 3, 2020

Feeding the hungry in the communities we serve is a top priority for employee volunteers and the FirstEnergy Foundation. Here are a few examples.

The FirstEnergy Foundation donated $25,000 to Feeding Pennsylvania’s Fill a Glass with Hope campaign at the opening of the 2020 Pennsylvania Farm Show in Harrisburg. Andrea Bortoluzzi, consultant, Community Involvement, presented the check. Since its inception, Fill a Glass with Hope has provided more than 14 million servings of milk to families in need through Pennsylvania’s food banks. It was the first statewide charitable fresh milk distribution program in the country.

Pennsylvania first lady Frances Wolf (c. in red) opened the farm show by ringing the official bell and making a celebratory milkshake toast. Andrea is third from right.

Stan Prater, consultant, Regional External Affairs (l.), presented a $5,000 FirstEnergy Foundation check to Norwescap Food Pantry in Phillipsburg, N.J. In the photo with Stan are Norwescap’s Helene Meissner and Mark Valli.

Akron aDAPT (Distribution Applications Powering Tomorrow) team volunteers boxed up enough food for 6,104 meals at the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank.
