FE Ambassador Network Makes Connections Possible
March 3, 2024
Part of FirstEnergy’s plan to attract diverse hires focuses attention on defined talent streams – including colleges, universities and diverse professional organizations representing minorities, women and veterans – that employees can foster meaningful partnerships with to locate strong talent.
That’s where the company’s Ambassador Network finds its purpose.
“Our Ambassador Network is designed to leverage the enthusiasm and community affiliations of employees to help build a stronger FirstEnergy,” said Marissa Gannon, HR Representative III and Ambassador Network Program Lead. “We’re committed to making customers’ lives brighter, the environment better and our communities stronger through targeted, consistent recruitment efforts.”
The approach has been working well.
For instance, while FirstEnergy had a long-standing history of involvement with Akron Urban League initiatives, we officially solidified our partnership with them in late 2022 through our Ambassador Network efforts.
Most recently, company Ambassadors have committed their time and talents to presenting at informational career sessions hosted by Akron Urban League that teach attendees about our company’s focus areas, vision, values, positive work environment and career opportunities.
FirstEnergy was also recognized as Akron Urban League’s March 2024 Employer of the Month.
Under the direction of Executive Leadership Sponsor Pat Mullin, Acting President, Ohio Operations, the Ambassador Network relies on support and teamwork from Human Resources and Business Unit Leads, Talent Acquisition staff and willing company volunteers to make its mission attainable.
“Business Ambassador volunteers attend scheduled events and activities as representatives of FirstEnergy, building relationships and participating in outreach activities as directed by the HR and Business Leads,” explained Marissa. “Our Ambassadors are approachable, passionate about the company and adept at communicating the benefits of working at FirstEnergy from a personal, firsthand viewpoint that’s invaluable.”
