Service personnel at The Illuminating Company (CEI) responded to severe damage caused by a Sept. 13 storm – including a microburst in Cleveland Heights. A CEI customer in the hard-hit community sent the following email – with the subject line Thank You for Your Outstanding Service.

I would like to take this opportunity to commend all of the employees who worked night and day to clear the plethora of trees and fix downed lines. Every effort above and beyond was made to restore power as quickly as possible after this disaster hit our area and other suburbs. I was impressed with the efficiency and speed which FirstEnergy tackled this terrible storm.

Please convey my gratitude to all the tireless workers and phone representatives who dispatched our calls immediately. They deserve nothing but praise.

Approximately 60,000 CEI customers were impacted by the Sept. 13 storm. In addition to Cleveland Heights, hard-hit areas included Cleveland, Shaker Heights, Lyndhurst and Mayfield Heights. CEI completed restoration efforts to the final individual customers on Sept. 17.
