Charge into Fire Safety

Fire Prevention Week (FPW) is Oct. 5-11, and we’re kicking it off with timely topics about protecting your safety.

In honor of this cause, we will feature stories this week about fire detection, smoke alarms and this year’s FPW theme championed by the National Fire Protection Association*: lithium-ion battery safety.

Smoke detection is key

Did you know home fires are estimated to cause seven deaths per day? Most of these fatalities are from smoke inhalation. That’s why it’s critical your home has working smoke alarms – and why we’re making sure residents in our local communities have them, too – by joining forces with the American Red Cross’ Sound the Alarm campaign. More to come on this initiative tomorrow, including a special milestone recently achieved by Toledo Edison employees.
