Celebrating Safety Excellence

Employees in the following FirstEnergy Utilities work groups celebrated safety milestones:
West Penn Power
Receiving the President’s Safety Excellence Award:
- State College – The service center’s 51 employees achieved one year without an OSHA-recordable incident on July 25. They also have driven more than one year without a chargeable motor vehicle accident (CMVA).
Bargaining-unit employees at State College are represented by Utility Workers Union of America (UWUA) Local 102.
Ohio Edison
Receiving the President’s Safety Excellence Award:
- Springfield – Fifty-nine employees at the service center achieved five years without an OSHA recordable and two years without a CMVA.
Potomac Edison
Receiving the President’s Safety Excellence Award:
- Mount Airy – Forty employees at the service center achieved six years without an OSHA recordable incident on July 23.
- Cumberland – The facility’s 53 employees celebrated one year without an OSHA-recordable incident on Aug. 1.
Bargaining-unit employees at Potomac Edison are represented by UWUA Local 102.
Mon Power
Receiving the President’s Safety Excellence Award:
- Marlinton – Nine employees celebrated five years of OSHA-free work on July 14. They also have gone more than two years without a CMVA.
- Clarksburg – The service center achieved three years without an OSHA recordable on July 11. Fifty-five employees are based at the site.
- Kingwood – The service center’s 30 employees marked one year without an OSHA recordable on July 22. They also have driven more than four years without a CMVA.
Bargaining-unit employees at Clarksburg and Kingwood are represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 2357.
ED Operations Support
- BETA Lab – The group’s 36 employees celebrated four years without an OSHA recordable on June 1.
