Bringing Joy to Others

January 27, 2022

FirstEnergy employees’ volunteer efforts have been amazing throughout the COVID-19 pandemic – from providing assistance through monetary donations to lending a hand for special community projects. And, this past holiday season was no exception.

Let’s look at how employees in our Met-Ed service area gave back to their community.

The Veterans and Allies East EBRG collected a generous number of donated items for the Lebanon VA Medical Center Donation Drive. The items were delivered before Thanksgiving.

Members of the Customer Accounts group volunteered at Helping Harvest where they assembled 1,000 emergency food boxes for pop-up food pantries in Berks and Schuylkill counties. Helping Harvest collects, purchases, stores and distributes more than 7 million pounds of food annually to the more than 320 programs.

FirstEnergy’s Reading Young Professionals partnered with the Veterans and Allies East EBRG for a toy drive. The event benefited Keystone Military Families which serves military and veteran families in need in Berks County. Through the giving and kindness of Met-Ed employees, the agency received 42 toys.
