The inaugural class of substation apprentices to train at Potomac Edison’s new Williamsport Service Center marked the completion of their course with a meaningful request: to install an American flag at the substation training center.
Senior leadership supported the request and provided the flag, recognizing the apprentices’ dedication and achievement.
Led by Advanced Distribution Instructor David Whiteman and assisted by two field training instructors (Corbin Swauger and Jason Logsdon), the class began Feb. 23 and concluded April 17, when the photo was taken. Upon finishing the program, the apprentices chose the flag installation as a lasting symbol of their accomplishment.
The four apprentices are now working out of the Frederick Service Center in Maryland. The flag remains prominently displayed and is illuminated at night by the facility’s lighting.
Workforce Development played a key role in preparing the site, along with Miyo Lopez, Supervisor Distribution Skills Training, ensuring the tower was erected in time for the apprentices to complete their work.
