An Environmental Boost

October 8, 2019

Here are two great examples of FirstEnergy’s commitment to preserving and protecting our environment.

More than 20 FirstEnergy employees from various locations participated in the Business Volunteers Unlimited’s (BVU) Summer of Service event. The FirstEnergy Foundation partnered with the BVU for the event, which offered insight on how waterways impact biodiversity and ecology. Working with volunteers from other businesses, our employees visited a variety of watersheds to assist with ongoing projects and cleanup.

The Birds in Flight Sanctuary in Warren, Ohio, hosted an open house to raise funds to purchase a 63-acre property. Birds in Flight relocates and rehabilitates birds that have been injured from nesting near energized conductors. Plans for the new property include a wildlife museum, along with educational and complete rehabilitation facilities. The FirstEnergy Foundation donated a $1,500 check for the project.
