How do I access the online pension calculator to run pension estimates?

FirstEnergy pension plan participants now have access to a pension calculation system known as YPR (Your Pension Resource). YPR allows FirstEnergy employees and former employees who have not commenced their pension benefit to run an unlimited number of online pension estimates.

To run your own pension estimates, follow the below steps:

  1. Visit http://ypr.aon.com/firstenergy/#/
  2. Confirm your identity, then
  3. Set up your account by:
    1. Creating a user ID
    2. Setting up a password
    3. Answering a few security questions

If you try to create an account and the log in keeps spinning, it means you already have created a log in previously. In this instance, click the forgot log in ID and password or call AON to reset your account.

Once registered, you can run as many different pension estimates as needed to assist your retirement planning. If you have any questions on registering or using YPR, please contact Aon directly at 1-855-326-8167.

Who do I contact if I want to commence my pension benefit?

If you:

  1. are no longer an active employee and…
  2. have a vested pension benefit that you have not yet commenced and…
  3. either currently are or will become eligible to commence within the next 90 days, then…

You can contact Aon directly to obtain the necessary paperwork to commence your pension benefit at 1-855-326-8167. Aon will ask you to verify:

  1. Your current mailing address
  2. Your marital status
  3. Spousal information (if applicable)
  4. The first day of the month on which you wish to commence your pension.

Once prepared, Aon will mail the paperwork to your home address. You will complete the paperwork and return it directly to Aon – not to FirstEnergy.

Once a month, Aon sends FirstEnergy a payment file that contains all pension commencements, any changes to participants’ pension amounts and directions for participants’ payments that will end during the upcoming month. Once we process the payment actions in this file, FirstEnergy will start, change or stop participants’ payments as necessary.

How do I report the death of a FirstEnergy retiree or surviving beneficiary?

To report the death of a retiree or surviving beneficiary, contact the HR Help Desk by calling 1-800-543-4654.

How can I verify the amount of my retiree group life insurance?

Follow the directions below to verify retiree life insurance:

  1. Log in to Empower
  2. Click the Me tab
  3. Go to the Benefits tile
  4. Click on Your Benefits

How do I confirm the beneficiary on my group life insurance?

Call MetLife at 1-888-252-3607 or go to www.metlife.com/mybenefits.

Who can assist me with enrollment into a non-Medicare or Medicare plan?

FirstEnergy has arranged for Via Benefits to assist retirees with enrollment into a Marketplace (pre-65) medical plan and Medicare plans (post-65). Via Benefits can be reached at 1-855-535-7156. Their services are provided at no cost to the retiree.

How do I update my contact information?

Follow the directions below to update your mailing address, phone number or email:

  1. Log in to Empower
  2. Click the Me tab
  3. Go to the Personal Information tile
  4. Click on Contact Info
  5. Go to the pencil to change your information or go to Add to add additional contact information.
