Celebrating Safety Excellence

The following work groups were recognized for their commitment to safety.

Ohio Edison

  • Kinsman – The service center’s 18 employees received the Presidential Excellence award for working without an OSHA-recordable incident for two years. Fifteen employees in the Lines group also celebrated two years without an OSHA recordable. Bargaining-unit employees at Kinsman are represented by Utility Workers Union of America (UWUA) Local 118.
  • Massillon – Four employees in Meter Services achieved three years without an OSHA recordable and seven years without a controllable motor vehicle accident (CMVA). The Transmission group’s eight employees reached one year without an OSHA recordable and a CMVA. The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 1194 represents union employees at Massillon.
  • Salem – Fleet Services achieved 21 years of OSHA-free work and 41 years without a CMVA. Two employees work in the group. Bargaining-unit employees at Salem are represented by UWUA Local 118.

Potomac Edison

  • Frederick/Williamsport – Members of Meter Services at the two service centers have driven eight years – eclipsing one million miles on the road – without a CMVA. Twelve employees work in the group. Bargaining-unit members are represented by UWUA Local 102.
  • Fort Ashby – The service center achieved four years without a CMVA on Aug. 2. Thirteen employees work at the facility.
  • Thurmont – Thirteen employees celebrated five years without a CMVA on Aug. 18. UWUA Local 102 represents union employees at Thurmont.

Mon Power

The following service centers received the President’s Safety Excellence Award:

  • Spencer – Twenty-two employees were recognized for two years of OSHA-free work on Aug. 6
  • Parkersburg – Sixty-eight employees achieved one year without an OSHA recordable on Aug. 7.
  • White Hall – The center celebrated one year without an OSHA recordable on Aug. 12. Seventy-seven employees are based at the facility.
  • Hinton – Twelve employees were honored for four years of OSHA-free work on Aug. 24. Bargaining-unit members are represented by IBEW Local 50.
