Save the Date – Akron Heart Walk
August 15, 2021
FirstEnergy employees have heart – especially when it comes to supporting important lifesaving causes such as the Akron Heart Walk.
Unlike last year’s virtual event, this year’s walk is back – and in person – 8 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11, at Lock 3 in downtown Akron.
“I’m looking forward to participating in the walk with my family and supporting this important cause,” said Jason Lisowski, vice president, controller and CAO, and executive sponsor of this year’s event. “The American Heart Association is doing so much to assist our communities not only by investing $2.5 million in cardiovascular research to help coronavirus patients, but also working in communities to ensure people in greatest need have access to care, financial support and other vital resources. I’m hoping FirstEnergy employees will continue their generous support of this worthy cause.”
This year’s FirstEnergy walker goal is $15,000 – and you can help in a variety of ways. We are seeking Akron Heart Walk team captains and coaches to recruit teams of 10 or more employees, family members and friends. Plus, you can download the Heart Walk app to your iPhone or Android device for easy access to all event information. Employees also can help spread the word about the
Heart Walk through your personal social media channels.
A Great Kickoff!
In preparation of the upcoming Akron Heart Walk, a kickoff event was held on July 26, where attendees learned about maintaining a heart-healthy lifestyle and information on how to participate in the upcoming walk. Guest speakers shared their challenges and triumphs with heart disease and our own Chef Edward Bailey provided a video making a delicious and heart-healthy chicken sandwich.
