Whether it’s supporting business professionals and educators, helping musicians impacted by the pandemic, sprucing up a historic cemetery or volunteering for a fundraiser marathon, FirstEnergy employees are on the go in our service area. Here are a few examples.

JCP&L representatives recently got together with members of the Central Jersey Club of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Club, Inc., in celebration of a $1,000 donation from the FirstEnergy Foundation. The Central Jersey Club is a group of educators, business owners, executives and other professional women who aim to improve the community through equal access to healthcare, education, employment and economic empowerment.

The FirstEnergy Foundation provided a $2,500 check to the Vin Gopal Civic Association in support of its Asbury Band Aid event. The fundraiser, held at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, N.J., will help Jersey Shore musicians who have been seriously impacted by the ongoing pandemic.

A large group of Met-Ed employees r​​ecently volunteered to spruce up Aulenbach’s Cemetery in Reading. The cemetery began as a two-acre donated parcel of land from Charles Aulenbach in the early 1800s and was incorporated in 1853. One of the original graves is that of Andreas Aulenbach, a War of 1812 veteran, who requested to be buried under a chestnut tree in the family plot. The cemetery currently contains more than 20,000 graves and is managed by an all-volunteer cemetery association board.
