Due to social distancing measures, this year’s Diversity Center of Northeast Ohio’s 18th Annual Walk, Rock and Run was virtual – and employees of The Illuminating Company (CEI) came together to support this great initiative. Proceeds from the event will support the center’s diversity programs in schools throughout northeast Ohio, reaching more than 14,000 students and youth-serving professionals in 11 counties. Participants had the opportunity to donate and/or join the walk or run virtually within their neighborhood or even on a treadmill.

Our team raised $2,075 through website donations, and CEI contributed a $500 check. Thirty-four employees participated in the event. Dave Conley, consultant, Regional External Affairs, and LaJeana Dickson Gilliam, Customer Account specialist, served as cochairs for the event. Laura Redenshek, director, FEU Safety & Human Performance, is a member of the center’s executive committee.

The Diversity Center promotes understanding and respect and institutional equality on matters of race, age, religion, sex, ethnicity, culture, ability, gender identity, sexual orientation and socioeconomic status.
