Open to the Public

EV drivers can now take advantage of the following public charging stations in our Maryland service territory:

  • Maryland Area Regional Commuter (MARC) lot, 100 S. East St., Frederick, Md.
  • St. Michael’s Catholic Church Parish Hall lot, 16 Uhl St., Frostburg, Md.
  • Dempsey’s Grill/Mid-Town Laundromat lot, 120 W. Main St., Middletown, Md.

The COVID-19 emergency hasn’t stopped Potomac Edison’s EV Driven program from progressing – and, as a result, Maryland has three new public charging stations now in service in the Frederick, Frostburg and Middletown areas (see sidebar for locations).

“I’m proud of the work employees accomplished to have these three new stations installed and ready for public access,” said Jim Sears, president, Maryland Operations. “We’re installing 59 charging stations in total, including both Level 2 and DC Fast Charging stations, that will be available for public use throughout our Maryland service area.”

Potomac Edison has partnered with ChargePoint, the world’s largest provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, to optimize the public charging network in Maryland. PE also offers rebates to residential and multifamily customers who install qualifying EV charging equipment in their homes to help make charging easier and reduce range anxiety.

EV Driven, a five-year commission-approved pilot program, makes EV adoption more accessible, convenient and affordable through an enhanced public charging network and supports state-wide efforts to have 300,000 zero-emission vehicles on the road by 2025.
