​There are a number of iconic anniversaries in 2019, such as the moon landing, Woodstock and the last public appearance of the Beatles. FirstEnergy celebrated its own historic milestone – the 100^th anniversary of our Penelec operating company.

It all started a century ago on a small farm consisting of 2 miles of line and 16 customers, outside of Philipsburg, Pa. Today, Penelec provides safe, reliable electricity to more than 580,000 customers while maintaining 17,000 miles of line.

We recognized the anniversary with a number of special events, including breakfasts and luncheons for employees and retirees. In this FE-TV video, you’ll see celebrations at our Erie and Johnstown locations.
