Penelec recognized the safety excellence of employees in the following districts:

• Somerset – celebrated 16 years without an OSHA-recordable incident. Seventeen employees work out of the facility.
• Erie – achieved one year without an OSHA recordable. The district has 176 employees.

Regional President Scott Wyman presented the President’s Safety Excellence Award to the Somerset and Erie groups at separate luncheon events. “Working safely takes a daily focus on assessing and eliminating exposure,” Scott says. “We commend Somerset and Erie employees for their dedicated efforts.”

Bargaining-unit employees at Somerset and Erie are represented by International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 459.
