More than 200 Toledo Edison employees came together in mid-May for the company’s annual safety fair at the Lakewood Service Center. The event was designed for field personnel to complete their yearly regulatory safety training, including bucket, pole-top, self, confined space, steel structure and tower rescue exercises. Meter readers also had the opportunity to navigate FirstEnergy’s slip, trip and fall simulator.

“Toledo Edison’s safety fair is a great time to complete our required safety training while enabling various groups from across the company to get together as one,” says Dave Poska, director, Operations Services. “It helps to build teamwork and accomplishes a needed task.”

Toledo Edison partners with Workforce Development and FirstEnergy Utilities Safety to coordinate the event. “Safety is at the forefront of everything we do – and the fair is another way to reinforce the value and importance that preparation plays in field work safety,” says Jennifer Cummings, HR Representative IV, Toledo Edison. “Based on the feedback from participants, this year’s fair was a complete success.”
