Safety Always

October 7, 2021

From educating children to first responders, FirstEnergy strives to provide electrical safety information throughout our communities. Here are two examples.

FirstEnergy recently partnered with the Cleveland Indians to host an electrical safety demonstration for more than 30 youngsters from Cleveland’s King Kennedy Boys & Girls Club. To paint a clear picture of the potential dangers associated with electricity, FirstEnergy utility and safety personnel conducted a demonstration using one of our new Live Wire Electrical Safety trailers (see the Aug. 24 story on the portal for more details). In addition to the safety demonstration, the youngsters, ages 5-13, enjoyed a fun-filled and educational day, where they played games and had a special visit from Indians pitcher Zach Plesac and the team’s beloved mascots, Slider and The Dogs. FirstEnergy sponsors a series of visits by Plesac to Boys & Girls Clubs across greater Cleveland. Known as Plesac’s Pals, the partnership program focuses on promoting a healthy lifestyle and encouraging youth to remain active.
