Employees’ Hard Work Pays Off

November 2, 2021

Employees in our Met-Ed and Mon Power service areas provided helping hands and more during the annual United Way’s Day of Caring/Day of Action efforts.

Met-Ed

Six Met-Ed and FirstEnergy employees participated in the United Way of York County’s Day of Action. The team cleaned the van fleet used for transporting residents at the Margaret E. Moul Home in York. The organization provides medical and nursing care, as well as rehabilitation services for adults with neuromuscular impairments.

L-r.: Benjamin Baquero, Transmission project manager V; Stephanie Gentile, Customer Account specialist IV; Roxanna O’Leary, business analyst; Kellie Waltimyer, utility man 1st class; an American Hydro volunteer who joined our group; Kurt Gerrick, distribution technician III; and Shayne Smith, consultant, Regional External Affairs.

Fifty employees spent their Day of Caring working at the historical nonprofit Aulenbach Cemetery in Reading. The group spent the day mowing grass, edging, painting, pulling weeds, trimming trees, mulching and more.

Mon Power

A group of employees from the Morgantown Service Center laid gravel and built plant beds for the Operation Welcome Home project at Mylan Park. The project is part of a veteran’s agricultural training program. With help from the West Virginia University County Extension office, the organization is teaching veterans how to live a more sustainable lifestyle, including growing their own vegetable gardens.
