“My family and I love being involved with the FirstEnergy All-American Soap Box Derby,” said Trey Knepper, Distribution technician II-Design Services, Martinsburg Service Center. “It’s a great community event and a wonderful way to spend time with family making fun memories.”

Trey is the director for the local Soap Box Derby in Martinsburg, W.Va., and travels to Akron every year to support his local race champions.

This year’s FirstEnergy All-American Soap Box Derby was held on July 21 at Derby Downs in Akron. More than 350 competitors from around the world participated in the 81st world championship races*. FirstEnergy was well represented through our employee volunteers and Mark Mroczynski, vice president, Construction and Design Services and Soap Box Derby board member. Our FirstEnergy Young Professionals also volunteered throughout the event.

Greeting attendees are Tara Costa-Martin, Rachel Elkins and Angelica Reeves.

Mark Mroczynski (r.) chats with Mark Gerberich, Soap Box Derby president and CEO.

Matthew Kopchick, Anne Lazzerini, Lauren Graves, Rachel Greer and Rachel Oliver are ready to serve pizza to the hungry racers.
