A New Giving Opportunity

January 20, 2021

There are so many ways FirstEnergy employees support the communities we serve. Whether it’s volunteering for a community event, participating in a fundraiser or providing monetary support for a special cause, our employees are ready to lend a hand.

Now, there’s an added benefit to that support: the new Employee Business Resource Group (EBRG) Giving initiative – part of FirstEnergy Foundation’s Matching Gift Program. The Foundation employee matching gift program provides a dollar-for-dollar match, up to $5,000 annually, of employee contributions to qualified nonprofit organizations and educational institutions.

With EBRG Group Giving, the FirstEnergy Foundation will match an EBRG’s total fundraising gift amount at 1.5%, up to a maximum of $10,000 a year to qualified nonprofit organizations. In addition, for employees who provided monetary support for the fundraiser, the EBRG matched gift will not count toward the employee’s $5,000 annual cap. There’s also less paperwork – with participating employees having to complete just one form, instead of two –  for EBRG fundraising matching gift requests.

“Whether it’s individually or through an EBRG, FirstEnergy employees are so passionate about supporting important causes in our communities. As a result, we’re constantly seeking ways to make the fundraising process easier and provide a greater impact,” said Lorna Wisham, vice president, Corporate Affairs and Community Involvement. “This is a win-win situation for everyone – with employees taking advantage of an easier process for matching gifts and organizations in our communities continuing to benefit from their generosity.”
